  • Habitot Children's Discovery Museum

Nice play space that has a variety of rooms and exhibits (water play, imaginative play with a grocery store, train table, art room, reading room, and a wiggle wall to crawl through). Fun place to take kids on a rainy day!

  • Mountain Lake Playground

Large playspace with a playground (needs revamped), a lake with ducks and other hungry birds, a dog park, and a lot of grass. A great place to have a picnic and relax with your kids!

  • Union Point Park

    "Pirate Park"

  • Tilden Park- Lake Anza

Nice swimming area with beach, snack stand, and grassy fields. Great for a day in the park with the kids!

  • San Francisco Zoo

Some exhibits are very nice, while many others are under construction, or do not have the capacity for easy viewing if your child is in a stroller. Has a really fun Children's zoo (kids can pet and groom sheep and goats and get an upclose peak at other farm animals). Zoo has a puffer train and carousel which are really fun for kids. Overall, worth the visit.

  • Rose Garden

Beautiful roses and very fragrant! Nice place to meet up for a playdate or to have a picnic. Walking distance to CAS and de Young.

  • Alta Plaza Playground

Very nice enclosed playground! Nice sand area, train play structure, and fun slides and climbing areas! Very safe padded ground. Beautiful view- if you don't enter the park in the right place, you will be walking up some hills.

  • Children's Playground-Golden Gate Park

One of the best children's playgrounds around! Large play space with dry sand, wet sand, climbing structures suitable for younger and older children, and cute decorative touches! Your chld can roam here- it can be a bit of work, but it's a lot of fun!

  • Toy Safari

    Toy Store

  • The Marine Mammal Center

Completely renovated marine mammal hospital. Downstairs consists of an education room with pelts and specimens to touch and examine. Docents walk around the complex to answer questions on animal rescue, rehabilitation, and release. Viewing areas for kitchen and staff room (where records are kept). Separate animal viewing deck (must be quiet and cannot get close- animals can get used to humans). Close to a rodeo lagoon and ocean- very fun to visit both. Small center and a short visit but worth the stop if you have kids interestesd in animals.

  • The Ark

    Toystore

  • Studio Grow

Very large playspace with many different area for exploration (art space, imaginative play, blocks and construction, music and dance room, snack room, etc). Very reasonably priced.

  • Bay Area Discovery Museum

Excellent play space! Has many interesting and fun indoor exhibits (all hands on). It has a great outdoor place space which includes musical instruments, a ship, water play, and a construction site. A child could easily spend all day playing and having a great time here! Worth a membership!

  • California Academy of Sciences

Wonderful science center! Membership is well worth it! Many fish, interesting exhibits, planetarium, rainforest, and living roof. One of the best features for rainy days is the Explorer's Cove- a large play space for kids 0-5 (includes a large ship to climb aboard and play, marine science themed toys, and even a live turtle and frog).

  • Babyalula

  • Ecology Center

  • Alta Plaza Park

Very nice enclosed playground! Nice sand area, train play structure, and fun slides and climbing areas! Very safe padded ground. Beautiful view- if you don't enter the park in the right place, you will be walking up some hills.

  • Argonne Playground

Great playground for toddlers- has a tunnel to crawl through, multiple slides, and a bridge! Great sculptures of insects looking over the playground- my son loves them. Picnic space, grass, and even snails if you look for them! Best to go before school gets out before the teens come over.

  • Gymboree Play & Music Center

This branch is one of the largest gymborees I have seen. When I attended, instructor appeared to be in training (can't comment on teachers). Gymboree is general is a wonderful place for young children to play and learn- kids divided in groups based on age, repetition in songs and certain core activities per age level, parachute, bubbles, climbing, and social activities. A lot of fun!

  • Golden Gate Park

Theres so much to do here- you could come each day of the week! I like the Conservatory of Flowers, Speedway Meadow, the Windmill by Park Chalet and Botanical Gardens. Each place offers something special and allows kids to explore nature and to run free.

  • It's Yoga Kids

Great instructors and various classes to try. Massage class is wonderful for babies- very soothing!

  • Paramount Park Playground

Good size playground with climbing structures, slides, swings, and sand. When city college is running their program, toys are out for kids. Kids can roam and play on the tennis court or baseball field.

  • Mountain Lake Park

Large playspace with a playground (needs revamped), a lake with ducks and other hungry birds, a dog park, and a lot of grass. A great place to have a picnic and relax with your kids!

  • Montclair Toyhouse

    Toy store

  • Mr. Mopps

    Toystore

  • My Gym

Large playspace with fun activities for kids. Ball pit, various gym equipment (swings, balance beams, etc), and very clean. Little structure- kids can come and go from station to station with a lot of time for free play. Ends with circle time.

  • Newborn connections

  • Peekadoodle Kidsclubs

Large play space with various areas for imaginative play (kitchen, garden with fake bark to scoop in trucks, stage, garage, and pet hospital). Also, separate area for babies up to 18 months. Music classes are ok. It's fun and staff are attentive. It's quite expensive and exclusive.

  • Recess Urban Recreation

Really nice play space- includes a slide, large swing, climbing structure, a stage, a train table, a reading room, and various imaginative play toys. Music classes are great! Worth a visit!

  • Randall Museum

Museum is small and a bit run down. Toddler Tree house area is a nice room but toys are old and broken. The museum is free, has a great selection of small animals, new exhits are often nicer than permanent ones, and the outdoor area is beautiful and great for a picnic.

  • Richmond Recreation Center

Richmond Rec Center offers a large indoor play space that is perfect for rainy or foggy days in the Richmond District! It has a large gym dedicated to physical play (bikes, ride on toys, slides, houses, and climbing structures) and another room set up for play with toys. New art project each day the program is running. Fun and inexpensive!
